I was born in Ethiopia and walked with my family through parts of Ethiopia and the desert to Sudan. From the refugee camps there we came to Israel.

I hold an MA in Public Policy and Government (with honors) from the Hebrew University Jerusalem as well as an LLB (Law) from Tel Aviv University. My previous work experience includes: director of the Public Forum for Youth Villages and Boarding Schools; spokeswoman of the Ministry of Social Affairs as well as director of the public inquiries unit there; journalist and news anchor at Channel 10.

I regularly contribute to newspapers and other media in Israel. I also run a blog at Haaretz which addresses social conflicts and promotes social change.

I often serve as master of ceremonies at various kinds of events, am invited as a speaker and give training sessions on questions of race, equality, and social justice.
